The Young And The Restless Theme Song
I will be using the following chords progression to play the beginning of this song:
Gm (GBbD) F (FAC) Eb (EbGBb) Dm (DFA)
2. Notice how the chord move from G minor all the way down to D minor. The basic
scale of G minor is : G, A, Bb, C, D, Eb, F, G. The chord progression starts on G minor and works its way backward (G > F > Eb > D).
3. I like you to add a second to all the chord mentioned above.
Gm (G A Bb D), F ( F G A C) , etc
4. Notice how the second adds color to the basic chord.
5. Your assignment is to add a second to any basic chord you know of. Listen for
yourself how a basic chord (root, third, and fifth notes) becomes a color chord
after you add an additional note to it.
6. Due to copyright issue, I am not able to provide you with the lead sheet of "The
Young And The Restless". You are able to figure out the melody if you know the
following:
a. Whatever left hand chord you are playing, your right hand will play the fifth and
the root of the chord as a melody.
b. If the left hand is playing Gm (G Bb D), then the melody notes are combination
of D and G notes. Listen to this.
c. Try to play the melody by ear.
